Atelier (atil-ya) is a French word literally translated as
"workshop". In
English, it is used to refer to a working studio, typically an artist's
studio. It can also be used as shorthand for the Atelier Method, a style
of art instruction modeled after the private art studio schools of 15th-19th
century
The Southern Atelier is part of an ever growing International “Atelier”
artistic movement dedicated to promoting classical principles in contemporary
art. The Atelier’s primary intention is to provide the highest level of
artistic education in realist drawing and painting at an affordable cost to
students. The Southern Atelier
emphasizes the application of Old Master craftsmanship, working from life and
the study of nature in the subtropical climate of the southern United States--
a geographical location allowing for a serious consideration of the sun’s
illumination. Our goal is to train and support artists associated with the
Southern Realist Movement and enhance the visual Fine arts of burgeoning

The Southern Atelier is recognized as a nonprofit organization under
Chapter 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts and bequests to The
Southern Atelier are tax- deductible for income, gift and estate tax purposes
